Phoebe Gloeckner is an Associate Professor at the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan. She is a practicing artist/writer/cartoonist working in various media to create novel-length books. She is the author of The Diary of a Teenage Girl; an Account in Words and Pictures (now a major motion picture directed by Marielle Heller), and A Child's Life and Other Stories, as well as a variety of shorter works. As illustrator, she has created imagery for many publications, including J.G. Ballard's classic experimental novel, The Atrocity Exhibition. She is the recipient of a 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship.
