is an artist and writer; author of A Child's Life and Other Stories and The Diary of a Teenage Girl: an Account in Words and Pictures (now a major motion picture directed by Marielle Heller), as well as a variety of shorter works. As illustrator, she has worked on many projects, including J.G. Ballard's classic experimental novel, The Atrocity Exhibition (RE/Search Publication's annotated edition). She is the recipient of a 2008 Guggenheim Fellowship, and is an Associate Professor at the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan.
